I have been fascinated by confidence since I was a teenage consumer of motivational cassette tapes. And so, I have devoted my academic career to investigating how confidence shapes our thoughts, decisions, and behavior.
Perfectly Confident is the first book to bring the best psychological and economic studies to bear in order to explain exactly what confidence is, when it can be your friend, and when an excess of it can be your worst enemy. Confidence is indeed a useful tool, but only when you hold it right. It is my hope that those who read this book will grow and profit from the insights offered therein, for understanding confidence—and ourselves—can contribute to greater happiness and success.
